LEARN HOW TO CREATE

STUNNING FINE ART PORTRAITS

It's time to overcome your fear and take a giant leap forward with your photography! My two-day intensive Masterclass Workshops are designed to give you everything you need to start offering fine art portraits to your clients. In each workshop I show you the techniques that I have acquired over the last 25 years. Each workshop is an unfiltered look behind the scenes at all of the tricks and techniques I have developed to craft exquisite fine art images.

IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?

Whether you're an experienced photographer or just getting started, my workshops are designed to help everyone who is serious about growing and developing their craft. It's not only about how to develop technically, but we will also discuss how to overcome obstacles that keep us from getting to the next level in both your work and private life. Each class is a supportive community that will help you get through your barriers and fears and take the next steps to becoming a high end (and high paid) portrait photographer.

what will I learn?

On both days we will do a complete photo shoot and edit. First a more basic set up, and then a slightly more complicated dramatic session and edit. We begin each morning with a discussion of lighting techniques followed by a demonstration. After that, everyone will have an opportunity to take pictures to edit and share in their portfolio. In the case of many people, this will be a bit intimidating, so we'll work through it together making sure that at the end of the session you have amazing images that are proud to show off.

We dedicate the second half of the day to editing in Photoshop. You can either edit along with me, or simply watch how I work and then work on your images after the class. In each class, I will provide exclusive videos that will allow you to go back and edit your images step by step. However, the goal of this class is not that we do things in a paint by numbers style. It's more that you start developing your own style and simply use my techniques as a guide. You will also be in an exclusive Facebook group where we can continue to share and comment on our photos after the class is over.

"Jason is a great teacher, with a very approachable style. I left his workshop with not only a wealth of practical techniques, but with a new mindset on how to approach my own portrait work."

CLASS BREAKDOWN

DAY ONE

9AM - 12 NOON

Lighting and Posing

Class begins at 9AM sharp. We start with a quick overview and discussion of lighting techniques as well as working with clients who have absolutely no experience posing. I want to know what is causing you frustration and keeping you from getting to the next level with your images. After a brief introduction, we jump right in. In my class we learn by doing! So we will walk through a typical photo session. I will discuss everything from lighting to posing and all the the little tricks I've learned over the years to make sure your pictures are amazing. Then it's your turn!! Each participant will have the opportunity to take their own pictures with the model and lighting. If you have never taken photos in a studio, I'll be there with you to get your through it.

1PM - 2PM

Lunch*

2PM - 5PM

Editing in Photoshop

The first day, I will show how I typically edit an image. Although you are welcome to bring your own computer and edit, if you are not totally comfortable with Photoshop I encourage you to just relax and watch my process. On day two you will have the opportunity to work along side me in a slightly slowed down retouch. Also I will provide videos to help you after the class is over to learn at your own pace.

DAY TWO

9AM - 12 NOON

Advanced Lighting and Posing

On the second day, we'll be lighting and composing again, but this time with a few more techniques added in.  We'll work with constant light and play more with color contrast from blue and yellow/orange lights. We'll also look at a different kind of styling that is more dramatic and theatrical. Meaning that we will have props and create an image that looks more cinematic.

1PM - 2PM

This time, instead of watching we will go through step-by-step together the process of retouching so you have the opportunity to work on your own image.
